Black Lives Matter

If I had to explain this hectic world to a young person, I would have a tough time explaining, because I would even have questioned myself. I have been thinking about how to explain it to someone who came to a work/ internship because there are different elements and history that has gone through conversation/people. I came up with watching some videos and looking on websites to understand how to explain to someone about Black Lives Matter. When explaining this to someone I would first say this is an idea of all people of any color, religion, and gender should be treated equally. When it comes to telling the young person, I would say, “ That everyone deserves an equal opportunity and we all have the same rights.” I would explain more about how the Black Lives Matter that they had to fight/boycott to become where they are now. Then I would tell them my experience is going to D.C and how all the different museums have impacted everyone. Explaining different examples that Black Lives Matter had to go through their daily lives. Like going into seperate bathrooms or talking about the busses. All the small things are impacted and making it essential to know why Black Lives Matter.

Question: Did the Civil Rights Movement start the domino effect in changes?

Question: What does the vision hold for BLM?

  1. I like that you are tying in historical perspective to your response. One of the critiques of the current prison system is that it seems to be a continuation of disproportionately affecting people of color, especially black folks. One of the reasons this group exists is that disparity between how the laws should, in theory, be equally affecting people but in practice are not enforced or written that way.

  2. I also think that this would be tough to explain to a youth because it is the hectic world we live in. I like the way you would start with how everyone is equal and that everyone should have the same opportunities. That is a great point to start off with younger kids. Awesome job on the blog post!
