               The other day in class Karisa Tashjian from Providence Public Library came and talked to the class about the Providence Public Library. Also, what they provided for everyone between youth and for adults too. She is the Education Director of the library. She sounds like she is very dedicated to the youth that she works with and creating classes for adults/youth. She supports birth through adults in hope for them to explore accessible learning opportunities. She created programs for everyone to learn or to enjoy the library that services that have been created. An example was the free classes you can sign up for like coding or knitting. These different programs or class are funded by 21 st -century programs and other funders too.           21st century and others have funded some or all of the programs. Against Philanthropy

The central argument of this article is philanthropy, but also the main critiques of the nonprofit sector and funding. Jenny Price wrote about how they are getting big donations from huge corporations to the organization but by the being said, they are receiving tax write-offs in return. I like how Price put in the article how “The average major U.S. corporation maximizes profits as its primary goal while paying more limited attention to social and environmental consequences.” This shows that the companies aren’t paying any attention to the issues like; having vaccinations or refusing medication.    For example, the use is to help like, “In the Niger Delta, a $218 million Gates Foundation program provides polio and measles vaccinations.” Then the different organizations start to create more problem that links to the different cause of having polio and the measles.
